Clarksburg Premium Outlets adds four retailers

Two shoe stores, a women’s clothing store and the fashion company Superdry are among the new retailers added this spring to the lineup at the outlet shopping center off of I-270. The New Balance Factory Store offers running shoes and apparel at its recently opened location, while the Adidas store will open at the shopping center later this month. Women’s European clothing retailer Carlisle featuring “curated women’s luxury apparel” opened its first Maryland location and the British retailer Superdry now offers Americana-style clothing with items ranging from men’s polos to women’s hoodies. Superdry opened in March.

Panera Bread sold to German consumer goods company

JAB Hold Company, the investment arm of the Reimann family of Germany, agreed to buy the fast-casual sandwich chain for $7.5 billion, according to the New York Times. The deal is the latest in a string of acquisitions for the Reimanns—last year the family purchased Kuerig Green Mountain for $13.9 billion and Krispy Kreme for $1.35 billion. Panera is not expected to change significantly under the new ownership, according to the paper, as the company plans to retain Panera CEO and founder Ronald Shaich.

Panera has more than a dozen locations in Montgomery County including restaurants in Bethesda, Silver Spring, Rockville, Wheaton, Gaithersburg and Germantown.

The Shops at Wisconsin Place offers tax day deals and freebies

If you’re looking for a place to spend your tax return, the Shops at Wisconsin Place in Chevy Chase is offering special offers to entice customers. Businesses at the shopping center next to the Friendship Heights Metro station are offering freebies to customers who say the phrase “shops tax break” to employees. The following retailers are offering specials:

  • Anthropologie – “Lite Bites Beverages”;
  • J.Jill – free style session; 
  • Rock The Reformer – free Chapstick;
  • Sephora – free mini facial;
  • Talbots – free VIP style session;
  • The Capital Grille – Complimentary calamari appetizer card; and
  • Whole Foods Market – Free cup of coffee.
